We are pleased to announce that the RJID website underwent a significant update on 7/27/2023 to enhance stability and optimize site uptime, ensuring a smoother user experience. The update introduced a fresh and modern theme that complements the overall design of the site, bringing a richer user experience.
Our team has implemented several background improvements to increase overall uptime, website stability, and make your browsing experience seamless and enjoyable.
This completes the next phase of a multi-point plan to improve our overall web experience, run scheduling, and irrigation deliveries. To date, we have completed the following upgrades to the district’s technology systems:
-
Summer 2022, we migrated our web hosting to a new platform and reduced our hosting fees by 66%. This new hosting platform also added automatic backups for the website, improved site speed, enhanced our technical customer support level with the host provider, and facilitated offline development of new site features. Additionally, we deployed a temporary new website theme intended to move from a circa-2000 era appearance to a more modern theme that was mobile-friendly.
-
Winter 2022/2023, we improved and optimized our irrigation delivery plan. We added missing lots that were not originally accounted for in the initial scheduling system built over 10 years ago. Irrigation is now delivered more efficiently, with lines (pipes) running from the irrigation source to the end. Ditches are filled from the end run to the source, ensuring efficient use of gravity and minimizing standing water left in the ditch after the run. Irrigation runs start at the well heads and irrigate outward, allowing gravity to efficiently drain the system as an irrigation run completes.
-
Spring 2023, we migrated from PayPal to Authorize.NET for our website payment gateway. This migration improves our overall payment integration to our website and reduced banking fees and operating costs.
-
Summer 2023, deployed a new modern and fresh theme, intended to improve the user browsing experience, ease locating of important district information, and enhancing the mobile/tablet experience with the site.
Further back-end improvements are planned for the 4th quarter of 2023 and 1st quarter of 2024.
